M Stew

I'm back from my NYC adventure on the Martha Stewart Show. As mentioned last post, the show will air Friday, February 9th. I'm told that after 6pm that evening it will be viewable online for the next 2 weeks at marthastewart.com. I'll be sure to post an easy link to it here friday night so those of you that miss it or don't get the show can check it out.

Everything was amazing from the producers and stylists, to the studio and craft office to M Stew herself! It was all such a beautiful blur, I'm not even sure what I said or did...I guess I'll find out with the rest of the viewing audience on friday! I have never been on TV before and wasn't sure what to expect.

In the meatime, I managed to sneak a quick visit in with Angie, my former college roomate, and my brother Roger. Both live close by in NJ and came into the city to see me. We ended up at the Cupcake Cafe on W. 18th St.

A chorus line of colorful cupcake mannequins...they actually moved and did a little cupcake dance!

The yummy display case...delish!

Now I'm home safe and sound and ready to crumple into a ball. It has been an exhausting couple of weeks (months). I will be catching up on all kinds of things, mainly snuggling my boys who I've missed immensely. I've got a manuscript yet to write, some wholesale orders to fill, housework, taxes...blah. They will wait for me, I am sure of it. Now it is boy-time and me-time.

I got here through the Martha website. I missed the show, which I only wanted to watch for the pincushion segment! I'll wait for it to come online. In the meantime, I love those bird pouches you have. Are they for sale or do you have instructions on how you make those? I'd love to make one for a friend's bday.

Hi Betz,
I JUST tuned in to the last few seconds of MS today and saw her holding a big plate of your cupcakes -- I missed the whole thing! But so glad to discover you and your work. Must Tivo this for the rerun -- I'm so bummed I blew it. The pincushions could not be cuter. Congratulations!

I must say that that is one of the cutest and most "charming" (as martha likes to say) projects that I've ever seen on her show. I have lots of old wool sweaters that are just waiting for a new purpose. I've recently gotten into felting, so this will be a fun challenge! Thank you for sharing this adorable project! BTW, the rick-rack on the cupcakes...did you hand cut that or is there such a thing already made?

You were FABULOUS!!! Thank you for such "sweet" project!! I am sharing you with all of my artist friend! Christy/CC's Whimsies

I saw you this morning and you did AWESOME! I can't believe how calm you were moving from step to step and how clearly you explained everything when everything was so rushed! Cute story about getting one of those mushroomy things from your granddad every year...I've never even heard of them! I am so glad you got so much airtime! The project is adorable and even as I am a non-crafty-person, you've inspired me to give it a try. Thanks for sharing!!

Martha's webpage is my homepage, so when I turned on my computer this morning and saw your beautiful teacups on the screen, I knew I had to do whatever it took to watch the show. I caught your whole segment, and you were absolutely fabulous. You could tell M was totally impressed and wow-ed, as was the audience and all of us! You were personable, smooth, funny, wonderful. Just wanted to say you've got a 4 year old fan in my daughter, she thinks you're a princess, and I think we'll be making up some teacups very soon.

What a fantastic accomplishment! You did a great job, and so photogenic! Bravo!

I just watched the video - how wonderful!! You did so well (I'd be a nervous wreck!).

You did a GREAT Job!! I often worry about Martha's guests, as she tends to interrupt and the guest starts to struggle to get through their entire segment with enough time. You, however, kept her on task! :) But don't get me wrong, I do love Martha. I've been on TV a couple of times demonstrating projects, but I've never been able to watch myself. I just wait for my family and friends to tell me how it went. I know....crazy. Great job! I look forward to the book!

Just watched in online. You were great! I can't wait to try my own. And the tip about cutting off the sleeves--duh! I've been making lots of felt stuff out of thrifted sweater but have lots of creased sleeves. Thanks for the tip! And congratulations. Can't wait for the book.

I got a double-whammy upon finding your blog! Yesterday I thought, "I haven't watched MS for quite a while...I think I'm going to watch it today." As soon as I saw the preview for the show...I grabbed a tape and stuck it in just in time. I was so excited...I made my husband watch it after explaining the whole thing during dinner! I just want to say I thought you did an EXCELLENT job on the show! You were very "cool" & did not seem nervous at all! You also did a great job on explaining things...so maybe after your books hits the top...you can start your own little show! :) Best of luck for you!!! Do you know when the book is due to come out in print??? It is already on my "to-get" wish list!!! Congrats...and God bless!
