CHA: cha-cha-cha

No, I'm not dancing the cha cha...I am getting ready for CHA, the Craft and Hobby Association Winter Convention in Anaheim next week. I have never been before but I hear it's HUGE. I was invited by my publisher, F+W to sign books at their booth and do a few demos.

The demos need to be small "make-n-takes", something people can either watch me make or take a few minutes and try their own hand at it. I plan on making brooches and embellished hair clips and pony tail elastics.

This week I am scrambling to gather supplies and prep a bunch of felty flowers, leaves and findings. I was trying to come up with a clever way to corral all of the doodads. I needed something fun plus lightweight and easy to transport. I ran out to The Container Store last weekend and came home with the perfect find! I love these tulip-like plastic bowl thingys. Fun colors, non-breakable...and is it just me, or do they resemble cupcake wrappers?

I can't wait to get out of the studio and mingle! I have plans to hook up with some authors I have been dying to meet as well as a few other major crafty people that will be there. I will be sure to bring my camera and hopefully have lots of interesting things to report back.

Bring us back some marvelous new ideas, OK? How perfect are the containers! I want to put a little pillow in one and make it into a cupcake display for your hair things. :)
Good luck and have fun!

Those containers are SO cute! It's like they were made for you. I wish we had a Container Store here. I'll definitely be making a trip to one next time I'm back in the US.

It's so nice to open your blog and the first thing you see is a mouth-watering colorful photo. I had to study everything in the picture and now I'm all inspired and ready to go create something.

I've always wanted to go to CHA. That's a big deal in the scrapbooking world. Have fun!

Betz, not sure if the whole family is traveling with you, but you will be right next to Disneyland!
Although, the convention center can be a whole other kind of Disneyland! I can't wait to hear all about it:)

Oh how fun!

I immediately thought they were supposed to be cupcake wrappers too. :)

Have a great time in Anaheim. Be sure and ride the teacups at Disneyland while you're in Cali. Wouldn't that be fitting?

You're going to be fabulous of course! And...yep, they DO look like cupcake wrappers! Exactly!

You go girl!

Hi Betz--
I exhibited at the CHA and did a seminar on art licensing for them. Unfortunately the designers were put way off in left field somewhere so we didn't get the exposure that we had hoped for. It is such an enormous show that the manufacturers didn't even know we were there...so many of us didn't do the show again...
have fun doing your demo...be interested to see what you think.

best,
carol

Sounds like fun. Wish I could attend, but I'm way too busy to head down to the OC. I might just be able to squeeze in a visit to the Container Store though, ;)
