insanity: craft and otherwise

Dashing off tomorrow for CHA. Sheesh, you'd think I was planning a trip to the moon with all of this preparation. My folks are coming down from New England to help out with the boys while I'm away. Somehow "getting ready" for the show has turned into grocery shopping, menu planning (Can you say: hot dogs, PBJ, mac and cheese?), laundry, cleaning house (which includes, but is not limited to, wiping toothpaste off the bathroom mirrors with a little hot breath and my sleeve cuff) and trying to pack a suitcase with something other than jeans, T-shirts, and slippers. Egad...one's wardrobe has a way of diminishing when one works at home. I need to get out more often.

Meantime, while I'm out west on my first official book signing at the F+W booth, I'll direct you to the newest Craftsanity podcast. Jennifer has just posted episode #68, a little update since my first interview with her way back in July 2006 (episode #24).

Little update, ha! Who am I kidding. I'll apologize in advance. I'm chatty. I really tried to keep it short and sweet, but if you know me and you know Jennifer...short and sweet it ain't. More like long and chatty. Jennifer's got such a great attitude and talking to her is like catching up with an old friend. I couldn't help myself! So please, head over there, have a listen and leave a comment on the Craftsanity blog for a chance to win a free copy of my book, Warm Fuzzies!

I'll be back next week in time to wish you a Happy Valentines Day and to share the details of my trip!

I know what you mean about the work at home wardrobe. I've been doing it for six months and I start back in an office next week. New wardrobe for me!

Safe Travels and have fun at CHA. Yes, working from hope and then having to go out "in the real world" is tough. I started realizing how much I wear the same things, which in my previous life I would NEVER have done. It is the best of both worlds and I feel very fortunate. I do the same preparation thing with house and kids...for me I think it is more about me preparing to leave them.

Oh...I wish I still lived in sunny CA; I'd be off to Anaheim for the crafting show! Guess I'll have to wait for your report. PS Love those slippers.

Hi Betz,
I just listened to the craft sanity episode and I really enjoyed it! Very inspirational. I also received an email late one night from the Martha show, but they told me they already had someone doing needle felting and perhaps they would be in touch later in the season. This was last spring. I suppose I should have kept in touch with them. Your interview inspired me to do so, especially since you commented on how nice the Martha staff was. I also have a how-to book coming out in July on needle felting. I could really relate to the interview. Anyways, thanks for sharing your story! I don't have a copy of your book yet, but I will definitely get one now! Thanks! Laurie
