making me happy today

a stack of clean laundry...at least for a moment.

A gift from a thoughtful and generous blog reader. (A while back Coralie read that I love Marie Claire Idees magazine...and sent me some old back issues! All the way from the UK, with love...and chocolate! Thank you so much!)

A favorite band of mine, now loved by my own kids. The CD/DVD They Might Be Giants: Here Come the 1-2-3's. Not only are the music and lyrics addictive, the visuals are great too! (very old school Sesame Street meets indie crafter meets clean graphic style...)

what's making you happy?

Oh we are big fans of TMBG. My children have learnt so many names of countries from "the alphabet of nations" song. I'm not sure if its on this CD or one of their others. I've liked them for years but then they had kids and started writing quirky kids songs and it was so easy to keep them in my life! Got to love that. P.s. love your work.

I'm so glad you mentioned the They Might Be Giants CD--I didn't know about the new one!

What makes me happy? At least for this morning..a quiet early morning walk with my dog, hearing the woodpeckers knocking on some old deadwood trees, a pussy willow bush full of little silky grey "kitties" and pancakes for breakfast! Ahhh....

Today my husband and I went downtown to the Seattle Art Museum and saw Roman statues and art pieces. Now I'm tidying my studio - that always makes me happy : )

Oooh if Cordalie reads this can she let us know where she got them in the UK? I've been on the look out for Marie Claire Idees, but not spotted them anywhere.

Thanks for the inspirational thoughts Betz. Isn't life grand and full with tiny things that make us happy :D

Yeah, thank goodness for kid's music the parents can stand!

What makes me happy right now is a couple hours at night to sit in my new craft room!

The fact that I am off to Paris later this week is part of what is making me happy, the fact that I learned to spin on Saturday is the other part!

Do you need the current M.C.I. issue?

Have a great trip, sick chick! Thanks, but I do have the newest MCI issue as well! :)

How sweet! I never expected it when I first began, but I've made a handful of new friends through blogging and it's just incredible! It's probably the best part about it.
Magazines AND chocolate - wow, you can't beat that! -Marichelle

Little accomplishments are always the best because they add up to bigger things. I love that stack of fresh laundry, that just feels good!

Wow - They Might Be Giants! That is a blast from my past. I haven't heard them since the early 90's design school days! Thanks for the memory!!

What's making me happy is that I finally got your book! Love it! I took it too my daughters and we poured through each page, ooohing and aahing! Ready to felt some sweaters by golly! Went hunting for some...no sweaters...boo hoo. But we made plans to go to lots of garage sales this summer. Hope we find lots and in lots of colors. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us!!! And I agree, even with all the kids gone. A pile of clean laundry still makes me happy...

I love They Might be Giants, great lyrics. I wonder why I've never seen 'Marie Claire Idees' before in the UK, you can get them here?

O my goodness, TMBG is a long forgotten favourite, and with a 16 month old now in the house, I'm going right over the Amazon. I'm loving your blog, but need to get some work done .... move away from the computer. Dora
