all kinds of "–ful"

Hopeful. Thankful. Wonderful.

What a day, yesterday. I loved that our boys are old enough (6 and 8) to learn about voting. We took them to the polls to vote with us. They were off school and found it funny that our polling place was actually their school's cafeteria. We took our time, explained the process, got "I Voted" stickers. Bought donuts afterward at the PTA fund raising table outside. A nice experience.

Later last night, we got out electoral vote maps and red and blue colored pencils. The boys were so excited about coloring the states and adding the votes as the wins were projected. Of course, being on the east coast, they went to bed before their maps were complete. The Older asked me to finish his map...

...the Younger found the chatter on CNN a little boring and entertained himself otherwise. :)
The first thing out of their mouths this morning was "Who won? Who won?" I'm so grateful they got to be a small part of history in the making.

Ok, on to other winning moments: Nihal at Crossroads Istanbul is the winner of the Week #3 give-away! Thank you all so much for your comments and ornament stories, I loved reading them. So many fond memories seem to be evoked each year as they are unwrapped and added to the tree.

This concludes the weekly blog give-aways, but the Customer Appreciation Give-away continues in my shop until Thanksgiving! Hey, and speaking of my etsy shop, this week I batted a thousand: 1000 sales on etsy!

more wonderful!

My oh my! I can't believe Betz. As I loved and bookmarked your blog, so I just wanted to follow you on my daily base. And my God! I see I'm the winner, wow!
What a day indeed, let me see:
A happy day started with learning Obama's winning and next now my winning:) Maybe stock markets crashed but love and hope always stands. So I'm very hopeful being an Istanbulian w/ your new President. Since the campaign started in feb 2007, I wished, dreamed, and voted from the heart and today the time of change for all of US:)
Congrat's America.

My Big Special Thanks to you Betz for this sweet surprise. I'll talk about you on my journal. Will duly let you know about the article of my Noel ornaments after finishing the photographing process.

Miles of Smiles & Warm thoughts from sunny Istanbul.

Thank you for sharing your story about your boys and the election. My 7 year old was similarly enthralled! I wish I had thought of the map project! We did canvassing together the night before and he had so much fun getting to put the hangers on the doors! Then to see our candidate of choice win was truly exciting! In the midwest, he had to stay up pretty late, but he got the announcement!

Thanks again for your blogging, I enjoy it!

What a wonderful way to share with the boy. I too would have gotten bored with CNN.
