finally finished

I's like to share with you my finally finished Shalom Cardi! (You may remember my first attempt, which I did not rip out but gifted to a taller-than-I-am friend. She loves it!) This was my second attempt which I am very happy with. The yarn is called Esperanza from Schaefer Yarns.

My friend Laura helped me out a great deal with my gauge swatch and blocking tips, etc. (Thanks Laura!) She also suggested taking 2 rows out of each yoke section to help with the proportions, and I think that was a good call. I'm even happy with the cool button I found to finish it all off!

I'm loving it! Check out other people's Shalom Cardi sweaters over at Ravelry. Now I'm back to knitting a pair of socks I started a year ago! Here's to hoping I finish them in 2010!

What are you knitting?

Dishcloths, dishcloths & more dishcloths! I've got a butt load of cotton & aspirations to not own a stash. So this is the year I clear out the yarn basket.

It's really great! Love your color choice. I'm not knitting anything, but I have resolved to learn to knit this year, even if it's just a potholder.

Love it!! You go, knitter girl!

Here's wishing you sock success!

Go those socks. I just finished a pair I started in 2007!!! Bad case of second sock syndrome - it feels really good to finish. Nothing new on my needles yet.

Looks great! Right now I'm working on a hat for my son to match his mittens (Maizie's Mittens by Stephanie Japel--super easy). Then it will be a hat for myself with the yarn Santa brought!

Beautiful!

I just finished a gardigan myself last week but haven't yet found the time to photograph it.

Wow, I'm always impressed with your talents.

Don't you have fear washing your work for the first time? Any tips for how to help knit keep it's shape?

Wow, your sweater it came out great. I just love it. I am knitting some really cool mittens. I also needed help with them. I did not know how to do the increase for the thumb. It had a pattern in the mittens. It is great to have a person who can help you and then one day you will be able to help someone else. I love your blog and Happy Knitting.

Oh it's beautiful. The colours are lovely too. It inspires me to make something for myself - I'm always too busy or feel too guilty!

This is so pretty and so much better on you than the first attempt. I'll just go ahead and say it. Is that bad? This fits you beautifully. Very well done.

I'm knitting "Five" from Louisa Hardings' book "Queen of Hearts". It's a dress knitted in charcoal wool/acrylic/linen with hearts around the bottom edge. I'm really enjoying it, the yarn is a pleasure to knit with.

Super cute! I've been wanting to make this, so I'm happy to read the modifications you made first.
Also, I took your holiday online class #2, and just wanted to let you know I'm finally working on the Jack Horner Pie. I got a little busy and couldn't get it all done before Christmas. Anyway, I love it and can't wait to start a new tradition next year. Thanks again for a great class!

I'm a horror about blocking. I just don't. I also don't knit anything particularly big for an adult. Very much a hat, bag, and kid item kind of knitter so I am very impressed and tempted by this cardi! I may have to learn to block after all!

I've got a few programs on the go right now,
A felted bag: Jayne's AP Bag on Ravelry
Yet another Boyfriend Hat by Stephanie also on Ravelry. So quick and easy to whip out and my most ambitious project so far: A Learn to Knit Party. Not exactly the sort of project you were asking about, but a knitting project right? I'm organizing a Learn to Knit Party as part of a group called Help A Mother Out to benefit our local Diaper Bank. I have until the beginning of May for all details, but I'm looking for suggestion for a small project to start participants off with that would just require one set of needles and one skein? We're in the desert here so scarves in May don't work so well.

Turned out Great Betz! Thanks for the sizing tips. I just started mine and will be following your advice taking out rows from the yoke sections.

That cardi looks amazingly good. I've thought about making one but I don't think I have the figure for it- it looks great on you! What I'm knitting now: baby mitts, socks, mittens for me, a sweater vest, more mittens, a hat, probably some other stuff but that's what I can think of right now. :)

I've been knitting balerina slippers and sewing a button on the top for a cute finish. The work up very quickly and I'm able to finish a slipper a night even though I'm a begining knitter. I can't wait to try your sweater out next~ Thank you

I am madly knitting socks! I have found the most wonderful book with interchangeable patterns and have been knitting them in thick and thin yarn - it's so cold here I need lots to keep my feet warm!

I love the choice of yarn for the sweater...lovely! I'm currently knitting the Umberta sweater in Cascade 220 for my daughter. Way too much stockinette stitch for my liking.

I'm working on a stash of UGLY yarn that was donated -- I have a couple of afghans in the works, crochet. I started a pair of socks -- one, anyway; am working on an UGLY sweater (I like ugly. It's the new pretty.) Just finished an UGLY scarf. When I get tired of making big things I make small things -- coffee cozies, aka java sweaters, out of scraps and ends. Good job on the cardi!

Wow! It looks great... so glad my advice actually worked : )! That button works perfectly... now I want to make one of these for myself again! I knitting a simple colorwork yoke sweater, some baby pants, and a shawl right now, lots on the needles!!!!!

I didn't think the other one was bad, but this one looks really pretty! I wish my basic knitting was adequate to move on to a project like this. I love this type of cardi! Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
