I love to go to good will or the thrift store on payday. It's so much fun finding the bargains then even making something new and fabulous from the finds! Love the bowl!
Great finds. You must live somewhere with great thrift stores and where it gets cold. Sweater thrift store finds are hard to come by here! Looking forward to visiting family in the midwest this summer. Stock up on all those goodies.
oh so happy! I just used some felt and made the sweetest little clutch and it caused me to think I needed to go find some more sweaters. Hmmm, this could be a fun thing to keep in mind when the garage sales start up again.
I too went to my favorite local thrift store today, Village Discount in Akron, OH. We find such lovely leftovers there we call it our "Neiman Marcus" and the prices beat the pants off Good Will.
I'm going through my google reader of the blogs I follow and perusing the latest posts and what do I find but this wonderful burst of color...and my bowl!!! Oh, this bowl makes me so happy. I have the whole set, it's because of these bowls that my back door (located in the kitchen) is orange.
I totally get why you bought it and why it makes you happy. Every time I look at them I get happy inside. I don't even want to use them so that they stay pristine. Yes, mine are also in minty mint condition. I got very lucky last summer at a flea market I go to all the time.
Hi Betz, me again, I just read Nancy's post and how she owned these bowls as a young wife, she remembers the set as having 3 bowls...the set contains 4 bowls. Only two have the daisies on them, this larger one and the one two bowl sizes up. The first small bowl, and then the third bowl are the color of the flower, that gold/yellow color. you know...just in case you happen to come across the others.
Betz, I have the same bowl from a thrift store as well, it's my favorite especially this time of year when all is gray and brown, we all need a little sunshine. It's also the perfect sized family popcorn bowl! MO
After reading your blog for awhile, I started looking for wool/ cashmere while thrifting. I could never find either...and when I did they were awful colors. Then it hit me. I'm in the South! Duh, not much wool wearing going on down here. Dang. I really wanted cashmere bunnies for the girls' baskets this year.
What great finds. What do you mean "wool sweaters ready to felt"? Is there a special process you do to these sweaters to get them ready to craft with? I am so new to this scene but would love to find out! I just bought your cute pdf file for the mouse and hedge hog. The only felted wool I've seen is at specialty fabric stores. Where do you find felted wool?
Amz, You need to check out my book, Warm Fuzzies, LOL! :) You can make felted wool by washing wool sweaters in hot water to get them to shrink and become dense and felty. That's what I used to make the mouse and hedgehog. Betz
i just found that exact same bowl at the thrift store, too!! i am so excited about it. very summer. we also have been bringing home stacks of sweaters (more so than usual, even)....we are about to start a blanket for my daughter's room. ;)
I just stumbled across your blog (which is fabulous, and giving me the urge to try new crafty things!). I recognized that bowl you found immediately! It is still in my mom's kitchen. I remember making red jello in it in the very early 80s. Enjoy your bowl of sunshine!
Oh I love a good thrift too! The colours are lovely & I must say - I like your taste in bowls - I found a set of 3 like like this earlier in the year on one of my thrifty adventures!

How DO you find such great sweaters in thrift stores? I have never seen a single nice sweater, let alone a cashmere one in any second-hand shop.
