my word (and a giveaway!)

I mentioned in my New Year post that I was pondering a word to define 2011 for myself and my business. Something that would inspire me and help me keep my focus when things got all blurry with the speed of life.

I've decided that my word is: REACH

In 2011 I want to push my boundaries, stretch my imagination, reach for the sky. I also want to focus on reaching out to others, not only by helping them, but asking for help.

In a bit of a serendipitous moment, I discovered that my friend Lisa Leonard designed a new necklace called Word of the Year (inspired by Ali Edward's One Little Word). We had been in contact for a while planning a give-away, right here for my readers. When I saw this design, I knew immediately that this was the ticket!

Isn't it beautiful? I love my word. It makes me feel like my goals are achievable if I am willing to go for it. What word would you like to have beautifully swinging around your neck, inspiring you, reminding you that life is what you make it?

Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win your own!
* share your word
* leave your contact info
* contest ends Friday January 21st 2011, midnight EST
* US and Canada only, please.

Good luck!

I have adopted "enjoy" as my word. Like, *enjoy* that I have 2 healthy kids at the counter doing homework (instead of yelling and hating homework!). *enjoy* housework and cleaning up after dinner b/c we are blessed to have a home and meals. You get the picture :0
Love LL and this necklace.

I love this necklace! I've had a yearly word for a few years now. This year, I can't decide between "less" and "heal". I should probably figure it out soon! :)

hmmm, I hadn't really thought of word for the year, but it is a great idea. I know I have promised myself to take control of my house clutter, my finances, and my health this year and in order to do all that, I need to organize. So I guess my word for the year is "Organize". Not a very spiritual or uplifting word, but it is what I need this year. Thank you for making me "think".

My word is "content". I'm learning to be content with who I am, where I'm at and the changes I need to make. No more denial. No more fighting, striving or wishing to be as others. This is not an inactive contentedness
(like giving up or not trying to be a better me), but an active content (like finding rest in who I am, and discovering the strength I have to move forward and be uniquely brilliant) :) ...thanks for letting me purge:), it was kind of therapeutic. :)

"Breathe"

My word last year was "focus" and I thought it was extremely appropriate. This year I was thinking of something along the lines of "accept" - accept myself and others for who they are, accept help when offered, accept the things and people who enter my life...

Love the necklace!

I love reading everyone's words. It seems many bloggers are choosing words for the year. I can't seem to come up with one that works for me.

Patience would work because I don't seem to have much with the kids lately.

Heal would be nice since I have been dealing with shoulder issues for a couple years.

Maybe I should go simple with change. That way it would encompass all different areas of my life?

'Enjoy' has to be my word of 2011. I think it's been so easy for me to get caught up in the every day hussle of life that I haven't been fully appreciating things. If I could choose two words, they'd be "Just Be" because it starts off so many sentences for me. Just be...yourself....in the moment......grateful...etc.

Great giveaway and a great reason for me to ponder this question. Thanks!

'Release'

My word is "love" for 2011. It's my word for obvious reasons, but it's also my maiden name, and the meaning of my first name (Amy), so it is who I am. The jewelry is beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win and for sharing this artist's work.

Your post resonates with me. I've been struggling to find a way to center myself in my life and decided I needed a totem or a mantra or something, which is along the same idea as your word of the year idea. Thank you for offering the give-away; the necklace is lovely and simple and I genuinely hope I win! :-)

As always, thanks for your inspiration!

Gosh it is tough to come up with one! I'd like to have a few and change them out based on my mood :) I think courage would be the best though. I always try to instill courage in my children and tell them they can do anything and display it in myself.

After much thought, my word will for 2011 will be LESS. I need to do LESS and relax more. I need to spend LESS and save more and I need to accumulate LESS and give more. This will remind me of that. Thanks for the give away.

My word is experience. I want to be able to take each moment ( whether good or bad) and just be in that moment. Than hopefully either enjoy it or have the courage to change if need be.

My word for this year is Simplify. I am working on making the things in my life more simple so I can enjoy my crafts, my job, my home and my family more.

At the top of my New Year resolution list is "to be a better friend". Now I'm not saying I haven't been a good friend but there is always room for improvement and one way is to accept people as they are and not judge. So my word is "accept". Thanks to both you and Lisa for this great giveaway.

Beautiful giveaway! My word for life is breathe - it is surprisingly easy to forget to breathe when you are raising two boys! But my word for the year is present. I want to be present in my life this year, not always looking forward or back. Plus, I think it also helps me to remember what a gift life is!

I think my word this year would have to be "unfinished." Because just because I'm technically a grownup doesn't mean I have to let myself calcify into some particular stratum of self, I'm still growing, still learning, not done yet, unfinished. To some people it might sound like a scary or derogatory word; to me it's incredibly exciting.

My word is trust. This year will bring a lot of changes and I want to trust in my Heavenly Father that he will bless me to adapt and thrive even when the growing is hard.
Thank you!

My word is 'GROW'.

My children are growing, leaving babyhood behind, my time to focus on my own needs is growing (ever so slightly), I hope to grow more of our own food now that I have a decent garden, and I would like to continue growing certain aspects of my personality, such as patience, intention, gratitude and acceptance.

Ooh, what a lovely necklace! Nice idea, Betz. I'm going to repeat myself with the word 'radiant' (but I really like your 'reach' too).

PS Though I'm in the UK, I have a brother in MD who could bring it to me on his next visit, in the unlikely event that I'm the fortunate winner. Is that cheek or radiance, I wonder...? :)

My word for this year would be Joy. I lost my first daughter a week after she was born extremely premature in 2008, and this fall, I gave birth to a healthy, full-term girl. She brings joy to my heart at every moment.

I think my word for 2011 is "balance". Not really the whole work-family thing but more moderation, humor, taking each day and moment as it comes and not sweating the small stuff-- which it mostly is. Love the necklace and all her pretty work!

ctemommy said...

My word is joy because I have found this past year that my joy gets easily stolen and I don't want that for 2011.

Heather said...

I love Lisa's stuff!

My word may continue to be "steadfast", but I'm contemplating a new one...maybe just "joy".

Somehow I have not arrived a new word for 2011, BUT should I win this lovely necklace, I will be able to decide!
