bees knees in my tea

My Jersey City brother and sister-in-law gave us some honey for Christmas...homemade from their own backyard! How cool is that? I'm having some right now in my tea on this very gray morning. We are experiencing a "wintry mix". Love that term. Sounds like a holiday beverage. "Please drop by for some wintry mix!"

Do you like my mug? Also a handmade gift from the same couple back in '94. Can you tell what the imprint is on the side? A little challenge for you. :) That pretty little tea towel is a gift from my MN brother via PataPri.

Last post I mentioned scheduling workshops for 2009. I just got news this morning that I am free to tell you about the amazing Squam Art Workshops! Their website is all up to date and classes are posted, so if you live near New Hampshire or want to visit there in June, please do check it out. Having vacationed near Squam almost every summer of my life, I can tell you it's like heaven on earth. I'm honored to be teaching Recycled felting and MYOB (Make your own bag) alongside many talented teachers. More details to come...

The imprint looks like the sole of a Chuck Taylor Converse sneaker to me.

I love the towel too!

Hi Betz,

The classes at Squam look very tempting but I wasn't able to access any further information. I even got a "forbidden" message when I clicked on the "contact" link!

Heather,
You're right! Awesome first guess!

Sojourner,
Sorry about the link, it should be fixed now!

Hello Betz,

I think I am having the same kind of week you are; sick kids, gray snowy days, and a studio that is an absolute mess!!

Our New Year's Vacation turned out about like yours X-Mas did ( sick kids etc.) with the addition of road closures and sleeping in the basement of a church!! Fun stuff, good thing we had several pairs of puffy pants along!!

I find on days like this the best thing to do is to make myself a pot of tea, put on some Jack Johnson, and work on a floral design project. Hope your week improves, chin up! Mariah

Thanks for letting me know the new info is up. Ever since I found out about Squam this fall, it's been on my list! I'm hoping to be able to attend.

The first thing I noticed on this post was the mug! I LOVE it! (I'm kind of a mug freak)...I can't figure out what the stamp on it is though...

What a pretty mug! And how wonderful to have family-made honey :) I just adore your blog and your Warm Fuzzies book. I gave it to my mil for her birthday...

Is it a size 7 kids all star sneaker? I am comparing it to the one on my kid right now and it looks about right.
And wow they made honey in JC? SO cool. Do they have much space? That's very close to me, but I didn't think anyone would be making honey around here. Do they sell it at farmers markets or shops or anything?

Hi Pomly,
Yes! It's a converse sneaker print! :)

They have a small backyard and made honey for the family but they don't sell it. And my other urban brother (Minneapolis) has chickens in his backyard!

I just saw your link in the sidebar to the Squam workshops, and I SO want to go and take your class!!!! We only live about 3 hours from there, and we vacation at Lake W. almost every summer. (My hubby went to camp there when he was a kid.) So, now to try to figure out who could take care of my boys so I could have a little crafty vacation...hmm....
