In the spirit of sharing but not giving it away, I thought I’d post a few tightly cropped pics of my newly styled studio. (I’ll share the whole enchilada when the mag comes out in March!)
Since my space is just a carpeted spare bedroom without any inherent detail, I have to add a lot of bells and whistles to bring color and inspiration into my creative world…
The crash-pad futon couch remains. The kids love it and if I cover it with pillows and squint, I forget that it was our first new piece of furniture as a married couple 13+ years ago.
Yesterday I got the hot glue gun out and “trimmed” all of my boring shelves. What? I like ball fringe. By the way, I recommend taking the shelves down if you try this. Hot glue and gravity don’t play nice together.
Oooh, and those 3 colorful magazine holders? Found ’em in the $1 bins at Target!
I’m feeling so refreshed with a tidy studio. Some how it makes me feel like I don’t have any work to do. That’s dangerous. I actually have a lot more behind-the-scenes organizing to do. The closet, armoire, and hallway have all suffered for the beauty of the studio. Ah, the phenomena of the traveling clutter. Want to see another pretty studio re-do? Check out Melissa’s!
Have a great weekend!
The trees are beautiful! I can’t wait to see the forest in March!
I was over at Melissa’s yesterday and saw your comment, so I’m super happy you’re giving us a sneak peak! I love the bird pillows on your “couch”. I have a similar futon in my studio… it’s supposed to be an extra guest bed, but it’s so convenient for the extra piles. This was great eye-candy and perfect de-cluttering/make pretty inspiration! Can’t wait to see the spread in the mag! Have a great weekend1
I’m in awwww & I haven’t even seen the whole sha-bang yet 🙂 Good job. And funny, I picked up a couple of those birds mag holders a couple of days ago…gotta love Target, hehe. Can’t wait to see the mag when it comes out!
I love those pillows too!!! Did you make them?
Hi Peyton,
Yes, the pillows are mine…a new technique I am developing! Hope to post in my etsy shop soon!

Betz your space looks incredible! I love all the color you’ve added, it feels personal. Can’t wait to see the rest! Now tell me some more about those pillows
Wow – it looks great so far!! It’s true that it takes a lot more effort get get a space to look inspirational when there is no architectural detail to work with. I can’t wait to see the full spread. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh waaaaah do we reeeeally have to wait till March to see it all???? Boohoo!
I am loving your details, and that “ball fringe” (we call it Bobble Trim in UK) is such a lovely touch. And i think anyone who has a glass jar of pompoms hanging around is my kind of person. In short, it looks delicious and inspiration and I cannot WAIT to see the big reveal.

I love the ball fringe on your shelves! And I love the magazine holders too, I found the last few in my Target last week and scooped them up! You made me laugh with the “take the shelves down before hot gluing” part. Hilarious!
