Tutorial: Santa Napkin Holder

Happy December! This is such a wonderful crazy happy month for us with Christmas plus birthdays for both boys. In the midst of the celebrating and gifting to come, I wanted to share a fun tutorial with you, The Santa Napkin Holder!

You've probably seen these before over the years,  but they are too cute! The felt napkin holder is Santa's face and beard while a red dinner napkin becomes Santa's body and hat. My mom made a set of them years ago and I wanted to continue the tradition with my own twist.

The face is reverse appliquéd and embroidered with a *wink*, just like my favorite vintage Santa mug! I also trimmed the napkins with rick rack and added a pom-pom to one corner for Santa's hat.

You can personalize them by embroidering the names of family members across the hat band, add a button nose, a jingle bell, use a felted wool sweater instead of craft felt...in other words, make them your own! I think a set of these would make a great hostess gift, too, don't you?

Enjoy the tutorial!

  1. This is very cute! I like what you've done with the felted sweater for his beard, it really makes his beard look curly :) Thanks for sharing the tutorial and templates. Wendy
